Augmenting Ability is a private music therapy practice established to assist clients in reaching their fullest potential through music therapy experiences. The practice, established by Melissa A. Ward, MT-BC in October 2007, serves individuals in both Maryland and Pennsylvania. Melissa received her degree from Elizabethtown College, well-known for their sound and well-rounded music therapy program. Melissa completed her internship at Kennedy Krieger School, which is part of an institute known throughout the world for their work with individuals with disabilities. Melissa obtained her credentials, MT-BC (Music Therapist - Board Certified) from the Certification Board for Music Therapists which upholds standards that are equal to or above state licensure standards. Through involvement with fundraising for autism research and participation in various autism support groups, Melissa has expanded her work related to autism awareness. It has become evident to Melissa throughout her education and professional career that she is only a facilitator in the success of her clients - it is the client that achieves goals and holds responsibility for their success! What is Music Therapy?
